Auto lift function issues - Philips 715 (22GF715/04Z/332) (Techniek Overig)

door Ajay Ssini @, 06.10.2023, 16:31 (204 dagen geleden)

Hey, I’m Ajay Saini, a university student in Finland. I recently got into vinyls and purchased my first record player just to see if I like this form of media. I loved it but ran into some issues.

As you can see in this(1) video the auto off function is not working as intended. I believe that when the record shuts off the tonearm is supposed to be lifted but the mechanism seems to have been delinked or broken somehow. As you see in this(2) its very mechanical and I bet this white spring thingy(3) is supposed to have something on front that gets pushed back and raised the tonearm mechanism but I'm not a good gambler or for that even a mechanic.

Also the turntable would make a constant click but when I removed this(4) wire thingy from the bottom of the platter, it stopped making any clicks but the auto off function stops working then. Any way I can stop this click sound and still have the auto off function?

The model is mentioned in title and this website(5) has a lot of info on this same model, but if you need schematics it's practically identical to this model(6), and they have schematics for it.

Any help is appreciated, thanks a lot.

The Record-player chassis it self is the 22GC005.

If you look for that manual, it explains all your issues.

Turn-off automatic is indeed that little notch on the platter.
Your start service is good, and that is just observe the mechanics.

Beware some disks have a wrong loop-out position.
Just try first some records with an other loop-out.
See if that auto-turn off the motor.

Beware its a friction auto-cut off
Never put oil on that rod.
Move slowly the arm to the end to see when it auto shut-off, or why it is not catching that little pin
on the platter-axel.

And advise "RFM" That is a bit of a joke "Read the F.. Manual":-D :-D
Its in several languages.Pick one.
It helps how it all should work.

Only oil/grease those points (And even clean) what current also has some oil.
As some mechanics relay on friction.

Thank you so much for the response. And I shall indeed RFM :-D .
As for the Auto off function it seems to be working now, but the arm won't lift when it returns back to its place, scratching my records. I'll try to figure it out using the manual but seeing I have no background in electronics or mechanics I might bother you again. :-D
Anyways thanks again and cheers.

Many of these players use a slip-clutch in the armlift mechanism consisting of two disks with silicon grease between them. After many years the silicon grease becomes too sticky en should be renewed. Small tubes of this type of grease can for instance are to be found in shops that sell plumber's equipment. It is used to smear the mechanism of water taps. Maybe this problem is also to be found in your player.
